Program of Emphasis: Physics/Theater for Education and Social Change
Hometown: Trumansburg, NY
High School: Charles O Dickerson High Sch
Why I chose to attend Juniata: I chose Juniata College because it felt right. I can't really think of a better way to explain it--Juniata felt like home. I knew, also, that I would be able to learn how to combine my talents in theater and physics in new and unique ways.
Clubs and Organizations: I have attended AWOL meetings and am planning to attend a Women in Physics conference in January. I also participate in open mic nights, and performed at a recent poetry slam (which was preceded by a fantastic workshop on spoken word poetry that lasted about two months).
Most Interesting Class: University Physics and Intro to Theater have both been very interesting, and I don't think I could choose between them. I have learned a lot about different types of theater, and I am fascinated by the basics that make up the universe.
Favorite Faculty Member: My advisor, Dr. White, has been extremely helpful. He has been very supportive of me as a student and a woman, and I feel really comfortable going to him with any problems I have.
This scholarship is one of the only reasons I was able to not only go to college, but go without student loans. I feel so lucky to be able to attend college, to learn and be in an environment where learning and creativity are encouraged, without massive debt hanging over my head.
Thank you so much,
Class of 2016
