Still Learning

Posted: April 5, 2008

So here we are….halfway through our final season. We have to admit that it is weird to know that this is it. The semester is coming to a close. This means in a life of a Sballa, we have more than 20 games to cram into the three weeks before Reading Day. Heck, graduation is only a month away! We just recently received our caps and gowns.

Ok, back to Sballa stuff. In the next week, we are slated to face two of our old MAC (Middle Atlantic Conference) rivals. This Sunday we are facing Moravian, who also moved over to the Landmark, and Wednesday we are taking on Elizabethtown. Moravian has always been a tough competitor. Their softball program has been ranked nationally for who knows how many years and they always bring their ‘A’ game. The team is ready to take them on. We have always had close games with them and we know that this doubleheader will be intense. We, personally, (heck the whole team) would like to sweep two wins from Moravian this Sunday. So, if you happen to be in Bethlehem, PA, stop by the Moravian softball for two great games!

The anticipation for the Elizabethtown game is crazy as well. We played them down in Myrtle Beach and held the lead until the fifth inning. We ended up beating ourselves really. So when E-town rolls into Huntingdon, we plan to give them a taste of revenge. It’s ON!

At this point, you may be wondering why this entry is labeled Still Learning. Well, the thing is, we are still learning. As we said in our last entry, we as a team still need to learn how to finish. We need to play a complete seven innings. We need to have a certain team confidence that will allow us to bust out of the gate and take it to the opposing team. It’s something that we will need to continue to work on throughout the rest of the season and we believe that we can do it.

Ok, well that’s all for us here. Keep checking for new posts!
Love,

Second Season

Posted: March 19, 2008

Hey loyal readers,

Sorry it took us so long to write but we have been busy bees since spring break.

Oh my god SPRING BREAK!
Well as you guys probably already know, we came back to PA with a 4-3 record. It was great to finally get back on the field and actually play a real game. Don’t get us wrong, playing against each other is fun but playing another team is a whole different story. Our seven games down south definitely allowed us to shine and get some confidence on the playing field. Plus, we’re hitting like crazy! We’ve always had a problem with hitting in the past but man you guys should have seen us down in Myrtle Beach. We were (and still are) hitting machines!

And as you know the Second Annual JC Softball Putt-Putt Tournament took place with Team Ed again taking the win. We’re not going to lie, we were bummed. Team Kev-Dawg couldn’t pull in the win, but we were promised by the rest of our team that the win would come in next year. Represent ladies! Oh and congrats to Team John for not cheating this year…..um yea right. :)

Anywhoo, since we’ve been back we have played some tough games against Lebanon Valley and Widener. Unfortunately, we’re 1-3 since we’ve been back from Myrtle and the three losses have been by one run. Those have been killer. We just need to turn that corner, make those little changes, and we will be golden. But as the coaches say, we are playing two seasons and our second season starts on Friday in our conference opener against Drew University. We know that the team is pumped to get out there and play in the new conference. We know we can do well.

Ok well that is all for us tonight. Stay tuned to hear more from us!
