Here’s the Situation: ‘Jersey Shore’ a Guilty Pleasure

Do you understand what the words “The Situation,” “Snooki,” Guidos, fist bumps and juiceheads have in common? If so, you are probably no stranger to the show “Jersey Shore.” Students on campus comment on about the reality television show, and what, if anything, appeals to them.

Marissa Redding 13’, Marlborough, Mass.:

I like the ‘Jersey Shore’ because it gives me, as a person of 100 percent Italian decent, something to look up to and be proud of. Beat up the Beat!

Victoria Becker ’13, Philadelphia Pa.:

I like ‘Jersey Shore’ because, since I’m a 100 percent Italian, its something I can relate to. I go down to the Jersey Shore every summer and it’s great. I love it because its real, and there are fights, and they’re just perfect Guidettes.

Rebekah Bennett ’12, Rocky Point, N.Y.:

It’s just purely entertaining. There is no reality basis. They script it. I like to make fun of Snooki, personally. I just think her hair is way too big and she is very tan… it kind of scares me.

Marilyn Cobiseno ’12, Oakdale, Pa.:

What appeals to me about the ‘Jersey Shore’ is laughing at how awesome they think they are. First, it’s (New) Jersey. Why does anyone want to be there? Second, they are all a bunch of juiced-off nut jobs. Polly D’s hair is like higher than Snooki’s! Why are they so obsessed with their looks? They fake bake and then they fist bump.
