Olympi-mania: Going for the Gold!

In light of this month’s Winter Olympics, held in Vancouver, Canada, we thought it would be a great idea to interview students to find out which event they are most interested in.

Nicole Hankinson ’12, New Baltimore, Pa.:
“I like all of them; but skiing is my favorite because I admire their athleticism and ability to go so fast and skillfully down a mountain. Plus, I wish I simply were a better skier.”

Aimee Radic ’12, Belle Vernon, Pa.: “I love ice-skating because it is like dancing. It is so pretty and impressive to watch!”

Boddhi Karzen ’12, Makawao Hawaii:
“I like snowboarding. The half pipe is all right, but the terrain park is better because each snowboarder makes his own run and it isn’t the same thing over and over. Plus, I like to snowboard.”

Lindsey Beideman ’12, Downington, Pa: “I enjoy the ski jump because it’s like flying, and I think it would be really sweet if I could fly.”

Steve Liong ’10, Tombeau Bay Mauri, Mauritius: “Skiing is the best because it’s breathtaking.”

I can relate to curling. It’s strategy is close to the long board (bars & pubs), and I think I could do it at my age.

I can’t relate to a corporate media circus that sucks 7 million dollars from struggling economies to build snow banks. 1 million alone was spent on the security to combat the protestors at the Olympics this year. The torch was rerouted three times on the last day alone due to protestors trying to be heard. Olympics 2010 took sacred grounds from native people so that we civilized people can watch curling and snowboarding at the expense of dying people and ancient traditions…
Am I really the only one appalled by this..?
Wake up everyone…
