With the recent barrage of snow, students here at Juniata College felt like we were in elementary school again. Juniata had not one, but two snow days! Being accustomed to cold snowy weather and a history in not having many snow days, no one thought our wildest dreams of having off class would come true. As all the rumors of a second snow day came true with a JC Alert text message, the snow day celebrations erupted all over campus on that Wednesday night. Students give their accounts.
Bruce Knowles ’11, Duncannon, Pa.: “When I woke up on my snow day I refused to walk to Baker in the snow, so I just went back to bed. Both days, I had basketball practice, I caught up on sleep, ate dinner then watched TV with my roommates.”
Charlotte Hekking ’12, Narberth, Pa.: “I played in the snow with my roommate after catching up on some much needed sleep and homework.”
Chad Kohr ’11, Mount Wolf, Pa.: “I slept in both days and went to the gym. After I worked out, I spent some serious time in the library because I knew my teachers would pile the work on hard after having two days off.”
Paula Price ’11, Camp Hill, Pa.: “On Wednesday, I woke up about every five minutes to check if the delay would be changed into a snow day. When they declared it a snow day I said a prayer, ‘Thank you God for my snow day.’ Then I spent the rest of the day with my boyfriend and best roommate watching movies.”
Steve Liong ’10, Tombeau Bay, Mauritus: “I got a text from my roommate around 6 a.m saying we had a delay; I didn’t really care as it would not affect me since I start late on Wednesdays. Then later my other roommate told me to check my e-mail. After checking my e-mail and seeing we had off I ran into my roommate’s room and jumped on his bed. There were high-fives all around.”
