Holiday [Rom]Antics: Students on the Perfect Date
In honor of the romantic holiday, director Garry Marshall released “Valentine’s Day,” a 2010 romantic comedy film. This movie has a cast of famous Hollywood stars, including Jessica Alba, Julia Roberts, Patrick Dempsey, and Ashton Kutcher. The plot tells a story of intertwining couples and singles in Los Angeles as they survive break-ups and make-ups, based around the expectations of the perfect Valentine’s Day. The traditional Valentine’s Day revolves around dinner, movies, jewelry, flowers, and candy. However, is this the perfect date? Juniata students were interviewed to hear their opinions on what the ”ideal date” is.
Alex Ji ’11, Ashburn Va.: “Ideally, I would plan a whole day of activities. First we would walk in the park. I would also enjoy sightseeing and may take her to see some historical sites. I would want to end the day with going out to eat dinner.”
Jess Michaelangelo ’11, Altoona, Pa.: “I like simple dates. Dinner and a movie would be perfect. Preferably it would be a surprise and the guy would cook for me.”
Caitlin Stormont ’10, Fort Washington, Pa.: “I think the perfect date would be going to the beach in the summer time and renting a camp site. We could go to the shore during the day and hang out at the boardwalk. At night we could have a campfire and cook out.
Takako Yamamoto ’10, Kyoto, Japan: “My perfect date would be going to the big Sheetz in Altoona.”
