What kind of New Courses would Juniatians Like to See?
Many students here in Juniata have interests in courses other than the ones that are available now. Some can be disappointed if the courses in an area of interest are not available. Let’s see what classes would Juniata students like to take if they thad the power to create a new course.
Jackson Sams, ’10, Miami Fla.: “It would be really cool to have more exercise classes, like Pilates and rubrics. And also definitely more finance classes, like accounting classes where student could be taught more on how to handle our money after we get out of college. It is very important to have more required classes as shadow doctors, were students can watch what doctors actually do to help us get a better idea of our career selections in the future.”
Amanda Schlossberg, ’12, Baldwin N.Y.: “I really like music, so I would like to see more dancing classes and music classes here in Juniata, like classic rock and pop classes that can teach us more about music but doesn’t need a high required skill.”
Jojo Wang, ’11, International student from China: “I think it would be awesome to see more fine art classes, and dance classes. Yoga and swimming classes are ones that I really wanted to take, but that were not available here. And definitely more finance classes since there isn’t a regular course for finance majors.”
Erin McVicir, ’11, Charlestown W.Va.: “Yoga class that we don’t have to pay extra for is one of the classes that I really would like to take. And I would like to see more studio art classes like free painting classes, instead of the few classes that we have now that are an extra charge.”
Ansley Xiao, ’13, International student from China: “I really wish there were more classes in studying music. Like literacy class on different types of music where we can learn more about the general knowledge of music and the history of it. “

It might be interesting to see comments from current students about the reverse – “What kind of courses would you like to see Juniata eliminate?” To add something a trade off is often required.
Of course, when I think back to the early 1960, the available course list now is overwhelming.
