Consuming Passion: How Full Can You Go?

Recently, a woman calling herself the ‘Black Widow’ ate 181 wings in a competitive eating contest. She consumed the almost five pounds of meat in less than twelve minutes. With this in mind, I decided to ask some Juniata students what they would want to eat a massive amount of — if they were to eat competitively.

Darcy Stock `13, Kreamer, Pa.:
I would eat lots and lots of cheesecake because it is the most delicious thing in the entire universe, and I would never tire of eating it. Cheesecake is also the food of choice for awesome people such as me.

Brad Hoffman `12, Centre Hall, Pa.:
I would eat salmon because I love salmon very much. I like making salmon with a little bit of lemon juice, salt, pepper, and top it off with ground basil, but it is expensive because you have to buy the Alaskan salmon.

Sheridan Norris `12, Huntingdon, Pa.:
I would eat heads of lettuce because they are healthy, and maybe instead of how hot dogs are dipped in water [during hot dog eating competitions], it would be lettuce dipped in ranch.

Bridget Hughes `11, Troy, Pa.:
If I had to eat food competitively, I would probably eat clams because once when I was little, I went to a carnival and I ate eight dozen clams.

Nicky Deak `12, New York, N.Y.:
I would eat yogurt because I have always eaten a lot of it, and once you get in the swing of eating yogurt, it does not stop. My tummy would hurt afterward.
