Meet and Greet: Juniata’s Career Day
Career day is a job, internship, and networking fair sponsored by Juniata College. Juniata students have the opportunity to network with alumni, parents, and friends of the college who are offering jobs or internships, resume guidance, and academic and career advice.
In addition to Career Day, students, parents, and alumni are also able to attend a Career Networking Dinner and a Wine and Cheese Reception. The Career Networking Dinner provides students with the ability to further their networking while enjoying dinner and extra time with alumni. The evening is focused on conversation around the dinner table with the purpose of increasing comfort in a professional atmosphere. On the other hand, the Wine and Cheese Reception is a much more relaxed setting that enables further conversation after Career Day, while sampling a variety of wines and cheeses.
Student opinions are important to making events at Juniata College better. Below are 5 student responses to what they found most beneficial about career day.
Dan Sekulski ’12, Reading, Pa.:
The representatives there were very helpful. They answered all of my questions that I was not sure of, or that were fuzzy in my mind.
Bruce Knowles ‘11, Harrisburg, Pa.:
The returning alumni.
Jason Greenberg ‘12, Reading, Conn.:
Getting my name out there and creating a network.
Kelly Ferguson ’11, Greensburg, Pa.:
The tables featuring alumni mentors when you first walk inside were the most helpful for me.
Elena Woiciechowska ‘13, State College, Pa.:
The thing I found most beneficial is knowing what is out there. I could not get an internship, but it was great having conversations with representatives from the company who know best about it, and it was also a very good networking experience.
