Spring Break: Go Big or Go Home?
If you take a look at the doors of our students’ rooms several days before any break, you will see many different ways of counting down. There is no doubt about the excitement students have about days off from school. We all had our own plans for break, let’s hear what Juniata students did during this Spring break!
Hillary Mehnert ‘14, West Chester, Pa.:
I went to Grand Targee, Wyoming and went snowboarding all week in two feet of powder. It was one of the best spring breaks I have ever had. One night, my family and I took a horse drawn sled out to a yurt and ate dinner in the yurt. My brother, Ben, skied the whole trip with a broken arm and he was giving the nickname ‘one arm’ during break. It was tons of fun. I would love to go back!
Shan Zhao ‘14, international student from China:
I went to Orlando during my spring break. Before my trip, I had been so excited and imagined my trip would have been very awesome. However, nothing went well at all. When I went to Disney World and Universal Studios, there were a lot of people! We had to wait for everything for so long. This was definitely not a good break, I was so exhausted!
Catherine Myers ‘14, Shirleysburg, Pa.:
During spring break I went home to work on the family farm. I also spent as much time as I could to catch up with friends and family. Overall, the weather was a bummer, but it was still an awesome spring break! I think it was much too short, but long enough to be enjoyable. I was able to go prom dress-shopping with my younger sister and her friends. We had a lot of fun.
Sungouk Park ‘14, international student from South Korea:
Yeah, Chill out! Don’t rush reading textbooks! No need to worry about homework and papers due, not for me! I spent time reading textbook for classes after spring break. However, most of my time, I hung out with my American friends. Moreover, Lisa, my friends’ mother, bought me lots of Korean food. I really felt like home..
Zhoungwei Hu ‘13, international student from China:
I like spring break, yet also hate it. We have time to rest and get ourselves refreshed. However, since I am an international student, I have to travel around during break. Sometimes, it is really tiring and troublesome. Actually, this spring break was a nice one. I joined a group and we went to Turtle Island, N.C. to help people build a house. We were a little bit tired but had a lot of fun, nice experience and unforgettable memories!
