The NCAA Tournament: Upsets and Underdogs
The 2012 NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Tournament is a single-elimination tournament involving 68 schools. It began on March 13 and will conclude with the championship game on April 2 at theMercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans. Juniata students discuss their favorite teams despite the many recent upsets.
Anthony Glossner ’14, Centre Hall, Pa.:
I am pulling for Syracuse to win the tournament. With the upsets so far, my bracket is messed up and Syracuse is all I have left.
Jeff Gring ’12, Mechanicsburg, Pa.:
I want Indiana. I have always liked the Hoosiers so I figured they would be a good choice.
Kate McDonald ’14, Pennsylvania Furnace, Pa.:
I did want Missouri to win. I did not think they were going to lose in the first round though. Their guards are really good basketball players so I thought they were going to make it further.
Jordan Hileman ’14, Williamsburg, Pa.:
I would want anyone besides Syracuse or Kentucky to win the tournament. I did want Duke to win since they are my favorite team but they had a major upset to Lehigh so they are out of the tournament.
Ben Tritsch ’13, Bel Air, Md.:
I want Lehigh to win the tournament because they are a big underdog this year.
