Leaving Our Mark Behind: Juniata Students Discuss Class Gift
Every graduating class at Juniata is responsible for leaving its legacy on campus through a class gift. As the class of ’12 donated the recently constructed pavilion outside of Sherwood Hall, it is now time for juniors and seniors to begin thinking of possible gift ideas for their respective classes. Juniata upperclassmen weighed in with their wishes to improve the campus.
Ryan Dempsey ’14, West Chester, Pa.:
I would put rows of trees alongside the Muddy Run Creek. Outside of the East houses needs to be spruced up, and I think that is just the thing.
Kayci Nelson ‘14, Morrisdale, Pa.:
If I were responsible for giving the class gift, I would put printers in all of the dorms. That way, we would not even need to leave our dorms to print, saving time and stress.
Brian Gallagher ’14, Mahwah, NJ.:
I think it would be awesome if we had a picnic area on the quad. I know my friends and I love doing homework outside, so if we had a bunch of tables and chairs in the middle of campus, I think it would be a fun alternative to being cooped up inside.
Sydney Masters ’13, Bellefonte, Pa.:
Juniata needs a bar in Muddy. I think coffee hypes and stresses too many people out. It would be sweet if we could get a drink or two without leaving campus.
Ben Krouse ’14, Holland, Pa.:
I would love it if the library, or even Good Hall, had a concession area, selling food and drinks. We could make it like an organic shop or something different to give students variety with their food.
