Out of the Dark Ages: Baker Refectory gets an Upgrade

Juniata College has announced that Baker Refectory, the on-campus, buffet style eatery in Ellis Hall will undergo renovations prior to the 2013 fall semester. Simulated pictures posted on the wall outside of Baker reveal aspects of the initial plan. The current, outdated, entrée style food court will soon resemble other institutions modern look and feel. As students begin to see and discuss the plans, they cannot help but provide their own desires for the soon-to-be renovated space.

Mitch Dunklebarger ’14, State College, Pa.:

I like the variety in the new plans, but one thing I would like to add would be a Mexican-style bar. Mexican food is incredible.

Candice Kerestan ’15, Huntingdon, Pa.:

I think that I would like to see a more efficient way to serve students. Oftentimes, if they do have something worth eating, it takes way too long to get through the long line. They could maybe create more lines for the same station.

Quentin Dominique ’14 Crosne Essone Franc, France:

Since I’m an international student from France, I would love it if they had food from international students’ home countries. There are a ton of us and it would make it feel more like home. Oh, and they should ask students what they would really like to eat.

Justin Wright ‘14, Montclair, N.J.:

I thought the blueprints looked just okay and the novelty of the proposed themes, like the street signs in the pictures, is weird. They should just construct a modern, professional looking space where students can relax and feel comfortable.
