Plastic, Glass and Metal Cans
- At least one recycling bin for plastics (numbers 1 and 2), metal cans, and glass can be found in every dorm (typically in the basement or near lounges), administrative and academic building on campus.
- These materials can be “co-mingled,” meaning all of the items can be put in the same container for sorting at a later time.
- The containers do not need to be rinsed clean, but please remember to remove all bottle lids and neck rings.
- Clear, green and brown glass is accepted across campus.
- Blue glass, light bulbs and window glass cannot be recycled with regular glass recycling
Paper
- Office paper, colored paper and newspaper can all be recycled in the regular paper recycling bins across campus.
- Magazines and other glossy papers cannot be recycled with regular paper (see below for magazine recycling).
- At least one paper recycling bin can be found in every dorm (typically in the basement or near lounges), administrative and academic building on campus.
Cardboard
- A dumpster for cardboard recycling can be found beside Ellis Hall, outside of the Sodexo offices on the basement level.
- Cardboard recycling can also be placed at the bottom of the stairwell of the B wing in Brumbaugh Academic Center (by the Raystown Field Station office).
- Only corrugated cardboard (pizza boxes, packing and shipping boxes, etc.) can be recycled on campus. Paperboard (cereal and shoe boxes) cannot be recycled at Juniata.
Magazines
- Recycling bins for magazines can be found in the basement of Ellis Hall, and by A100 on the first floor of Brumbaugh Academic Center (across from the women’s restroom).
- Other glossy papers can also be recycled here.
Batteries
Used batteries can be recycled at the following locations on campus:
- Juniata College Bookstore
- Von Liebig Center for Science main entrance
- Good Hall main entrance
- Brumbaugh Academic Center, by Café a la Cart
