May 6, 2014 – To all Coaches
From the Science Olympiad Executive Administrator: Now that all the scores have been vetted there may be some changes in the individual medals. Per PA Science Olympiad policies, if a team, based on the corrected scores, should have received a medal and did not, please notify either Dr. Pauline or Dr. Coleman and the medals will be mailed out to the students. If students received medals at the awards ceremony and now with the corrections to the final scores would not receive a medal we will not take their medal away from them. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

April 29, 2014 - To All Coaches
From State Tournament Site Director: As I'm sure all coaches are aware there was about a 10 minute difference in the sign-up times at Cabrini College and Juniata. Our walk-in events will run from 9:00 – 9:50, 10:00 – 10:50, etc. So if you signed up for the first period you will compete in the first period at Juniata.

April 24, 2014 - To All C Division Coaches
From the event supervisors for Mission Possible: To all teams competing in Mission Possible, Division C:

Start task requires that mixture be poured in "from above the device". Anyone who breaks the plane of the device will not receive the start task bonus as per rule 4.a. Also, teams cannot claim both electromagnetic and heat from a single light source. The transfer is either detecting heat or omitted electromagnetic wavelengths. All other issues addressed in the FAQ page of will be strictly adhered to.

From the Assistant Producer, Digital Media Studio: Here is the link for the live stream of the Closing/Awards Ceremony:

The stream will become live shortly before the ceremonies and will remain on YouTube thereafter for anyone to view, just like a normal YouTube video.

April 24, 2014 - To all C division coaches
From the event supervisor for Bungie Drop: The elasticity test and measurement of the closed metal ring at the bottom of their device will be done at impound. The individuals impounding the device do not need to be the same team members who test the device later in the day, but they are responsible for knowing how to operate their team's device to perform the elasticity test.

When competing teams will be provided with a selection of C-clamps to attach their device to our rig. The rig includes a pin that can be used to support the bottle from the top and can be pulled out to release the bottle. Teams may choose to hold their bottle instead and release it by hand. Also teams may choose to let their elastic cord between the bottom metal ring and top anchoring system hang below the drop height or hold it in their hand as long as they release it at the same time they release the bottle. Images of the top of our drop rig can be found at

March 25, 2014: To All B and C division Coaches
From the State Tournament Site Director - It was pointed out that there was an inconsistency on your event schedule that you received at the regional tournament. On the bottom of the page, it indicated that there was an on-line sign up for Simple Machines, B div and Compound Machines, C division. That is incorrect: both events will follow the posted times and teams as listed in the schedule. Corrected schedules are posted on the web site.
