The Paul Taylor Dance Company
7:30 p.m., Thursday, April 3, 2008 Rosenberger Auditorium, Halbritter Center
"Taylor, one of the most astute social observers in any art form, has a knack for taking the dominant dance form of an era and...twisting it into a commentary on the people and their lives."One of the first touring dance companies to stage cutting-edge contemporary dance pieces across the country, the Paul Taylor Dance Company is well into its fifth decade as a major interpreter of modern movement. The performances of the ensemble combine contemporary subject matter, such as imperialism, feminism, racism and the dark edges of American life with seemingly effortless choreography. Some of the company’s most recent performances have included elegies to the events of Sept. 11 and a tribute to 1940s music by the Andrews Sisters. The company's performance at Juniata will focus on some of the group's most acclaimed dances and a few new works.
On April 1, 2008, Juniata Presents a special showing of the Oscar-nominated film "Dancemaker." Join us at the Clifton 5 Movie Theatre in Huntingdon at 7:30 p.m.
