Striking 12
A musical starring GrooveLily
7:30 p.m., Saturday, December 1, 2007 Rosenberger Auditorium, Halbritter Center
"THOROUGHLY WINNING! More artfully crafted and engaging than virtually all the tandard-mold musicals these days. Alive with wit and humor."A Broadway musical performed by a rock band, "Striking 12" is a hilarious yet poignant story focused on a sad sack whose year is winding down without much human interaction. When an oddball salesperson appears at the door selling holiday lightbulbs, the audience is instantly transported into a modern retelling of "The Little Match Girl" with a rock score. The music and acting is by New York indie band GrooveLily and the instantly hummable songs are by members of GrooveLily and Rachel Sheinkin, who wrote the songs for current Broadway Hit "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee." The original production of "Striking 12" was conceived by director Ted Sperling, who directed the hit musical "Light in the Piazza."
