Michael J. Pennington, MHRM, M.Ed., MCDP
Michael Pennington has been the Assistant Director of Career Services/Alumni Liaison at Juniata College since September 2011. Mike enters his fifth year as an administrator at Juniata, having previously served as the Assistant Director of Student Activities and as a Residence Director. He is nationally certified as a Master Career Development Professional by the National Career Development Association. Prior to returning to Juniata, Mike was the Job Developer, Head Men’s and Women’s Tennis Coach, and Instructor in the Counselor Education and Kinesiology Departments at Penn State Altoona.
A native of Altoona, Mike graduated Phi Beta Kappa, Magna Cum Laude, from Dickinson College where he double-majored in Policy Management and Political Science. He was President of the Class of 2007. In 2009, he graduated from Saint Francis University with a Master of Human Resource Management degree and was presented the Academic Excellence Award as the top graduate student in the program. Mike completed a Master of Education degree from Saint Francis University in 2010. In 2012, the Altoona Mirror named him a “Top 20 Under 40” Blair County professional. One year later, Blair Living featured him as a “Top 20 Under 40” professional for contributing to the betterment of his community. Also in 2013, Pennsylvania Business Central named him a "Foremost Under 40" professional across the publication's 22 county coverage region.
Mike is a member of the following organizations: Society for Human Resource Management; National Career Development Association; Pennsylvania Association of Colleges and Employers; Pittsburgh Education Recruitment Consortium; Middle Atlantic Career Counseling Association; Eastern Association of Colleges and Employers; National Association of Colleges and Employers; and the Western Pennsylvania Career Services Association.
In addition to his Career Services position at Juniata, Mike is the Head Cheerleading Coach. He also serves as an advisor for The National Society of Leadership and Success. His committee assignments include: Diversity, Career Task Force, Super Internship, Food, Alumni Council, and 30th Reunion Class Liaison.
In the community, Mike is the Vice President of the Altoona Area School District Foundation Board of Directors and Chair of the Projects Committee. He is a Nominating Committeeman for the Blair County Historical Society having previously served as Chairman and Trustee on the Board of Directors. He is a graduate of Leadership Blair County Class of 2011. Mike resides in Huntingdon where he is the First and Second Vice President of the Huntingdon Rotary Club.
