Intern of the Month

Lucas Corbin

During this past summer Juniata Super Intern, Lucas Corbin, had the privilege of interning at the Center for Ohio River Research and Education (CORRE). Lucas was awarded funding through the Alumni Internship Endowment, also known as “Super Internship” fund to offset his expenses. Lucas’ interest in aquatic ecology, sparked his interests in this particular internship. Lucas was chosen, along with another intern, as co-captain of a project conducting bioassessment of the Ohio River. He performed habitat assessments, and collected physiochemical and biological data at four research sites. Another objective of Lucas’s internship was to sequence DNA samples from various fish species and add data to the Fish-bol database. Lucas anticipates graduating in May 2015. After completion of his internship he states, “After graduating, I hope to obtain a job where I can apply my education and knowledge of freshwater ecosystems. After working for a few years, I may go to graduate school for aquatic ecology or fisheries. This internship has confirmed that I want to continue to work in this field.”
