In the fall of 2008, Abbey joined the staff of Career and Community Services at Juniata College. Abbey has an extensive background in coordinating volunteer efforts. After graduating from Nazareth College of Rochester with a Bachelors in Social Work, Abbey joined AmeriCorps*VISTA serving in Buffalo, NY as the Volunteer Coordinator/Grant Writer at Harvest House. Her third year of VISTA brought her to Black Hills State University where she established a volunteer clearinghouse to connect students with agencies in the community.
As a graduate student at Vanderbilt University, Abbey established a service-learning program called Communities And Students Together for Learning-Enhanced Service (CASTLES). In 2007, she received a Masters degree in Higher Education Administration, with a focus on service-learning.
Originally from western New York, Abbey spent most of her life living on a dairy farm. She has been married to Andy, her best friend, for more than eight years. Together they have two sons, named Liam and Teagan.
