CNS Advisory - Network Issues Due to Updates
Several network/server issues have been reported this morning (7/12), such as accessing certain webpages. These issues are stemming from a problem we had updating one of our core authentication and name resolution servers. We are still working on the issue and will provide an update as soon as we have one.

CNS Advisory Update - W: /Personal Web Migration
Advisory Update
All faculty, student, and staff personal web (W:) drives have been migrated to a new server called JCSites. NOTE: This migration did NOT include departmental web sites or other main areas of our www.juniata.edu web site. Please watch for announcements in July as plan the remaining migration.
- Access to the old W: drive locations on webshare has been removed. If you are using a campus owned Windows computer, your W: drive should automatically connect to the new location the next time you log off and then log back on.
- If you need to connect to your share manually or reconnect a disconnected share, you will connect to the servername jcsites as described in the directions for mapping a network drive at http://www.juniata.edu/wiki/?q=node/42. If you can NOT get connected to your W: Drive, please submit a work order at http://services.juniata.edu/cts/hesk and we will assist you as quickly as we can.
- Please try to verify the content of your personal website (aka w: drive). If you notice any issues, please open a work order at http://services.juniata.edu/cts/hesk.
- All W: Drives have been given a quota to help us monitor the needs of web space storage. These quotas are based on current usage for the majority of users and what we felt was adequate personal web storage space. Student quotas are the same as they were on webshare and are 300 MB each. Faculty and Staff quotas were applied at 500 MB each. A few exceptions were made based on current usage. If you are getting quota full messages and have a need for additional space, please submit a work order at http://services.juniata.edu/cts/hesk.
Original Advisory
Resources affected: W: Drives
What should you do? Please make sure you close any files you have open that are saved on your W: Drive before 8pm on Friday. Do NOT make any changes to files stored on your W: Drive until we update this Advisory that the work has been completed.
More Information:
All Faculty, Student, and Administration W: Drives will be moved to a new server during this time. If you have a personal web site on your W: Drive, it will continue to be available during the migration; however, you should NOT make any changes to it until the migration is complete.
The old W: Drives are located on webshare (aka webshare.juniata.edu & 172.16.17.62). These will not be active after the migration. Please watch for the updated Advisory that explains how to connect to the new W: Drive server.
This downtime has been planned with fairly short notice (although we anticipate the impact to be small). If you NEED to be able to access your W: Drive files during this time, please contact the Help Desk before the end of the day tomorrow (Friday, June 24th at 4pm).
