Correctly connecting to EagleNet is a multiple step process. The number of steps is dependent on the type of operating system that is being used. The registration system automatically detects Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems. All other operating systems and devices will need to be registered manually. Please read below for more information.
Registration and scanning will be required at different times during the year starting with the beginning of every Fall Semester, Spring Semester, and Summer session. At each of these points in time, computers requiring registration will not have access to EagleNet resources, including the Internet, until they are sucessfully registered.
If you use both a wireless and wired (connect to wall) connection, you will have to register twice, once for each type of connection. After registering from a wireless connection, you will still need to connect to the VPN server to gain access to campus resources.
Microsoft Windows Registration
If you are using a Microsoft Windows operating system, you will be required to have all Windows Updates installed and have one of several updated anti-virus software packages installed. If your computer is updated, registration will be a three step process that must be completed using Microsoft Internet Explorer.
Step 1: Open Internet Explorer
After opening the web browser, if you are not automatically directed into the registration system, go to http://netreg.juniata.edu. Read the comments and then click on link to continue at the bottom of the page.
Step 2: Run Scanner
Run the scanner to have your computer's status checked. The scanner will let you know if your computer's operating system is up to date and if an updated Anti-Virus software package is installed. If either test fails, you will be given links to help you get your computer patched and updated. Once alltests pass, you will be allowed to continue to Step 3.
Step 3: Computer Registration
In order to register your computer on EagleNet, you must sign off on Juniata's Ethical and Responsible Use of EagleNet policy. You will need your EagleNet username and password to sign off and register your computer.
Mac and Linux Registration
If you are using a Mac or Linux operating system and registration successfully determines your OS, links to updates will be provided and highly recommended, but will not be required. Registration is a three step process.
Step 1: Open a Web Browser
If you are not automatically directed into the Registration system, go to http://netreg.juniata.edu to start registration.
Step 2: Visit Update WebSites
Mac and Linux Users will be provided access to several operating system and software websites to update your computer. It is highly recommended that you check for updates at this time in order to protect your computer.
Step 3: Computer Registration
In order to register your computer on EagleNet,you must sign off on Juniata's Ethical and Responsible Use of EagleNet policy. You will need your EagleNet username and password to sign off and register your computer.
Undetectable Operating Systems and Other Devices
Registration is required for all computers and devices that need access to the Internet and other Juniata network resources. If you have a computer or device that cannot complete the online registration process, it will need to be manually registered by contacting Campus Technology Services at 641-3619 (x3619 from on campus phones). While unregistered devices will still be able to access other unregistered devices, access to Juniata network resources and the Internet will not be available. There is also a higher chance of virus infection on the unregistered network.
