Recommended Computer Specifications
Starting with the Freshman class of 2008, all incoming students are required to have access to a laptop meeting the minimum requirements outlined below for class purposes. (These machines can be individually owned, shared with another student, or borrowed when available.) Additionally, all upperclassmen purchasing new computers are strongly encouraged to consider a laptop to take full advantage of the wired and wireless access available in all academic and residence halls.
We support both Mac and Windows based machines and provide the following recommendations when making a purchase: (Note: Juniata students are eligible to receive educational discounts from both Apple and Dell.)
Recommended MINIMUM Specifications for New Windows Laptop
- Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GHz
- Memory: 2 GB Memory
- Video Card: 128 MB
- Hard Drive: 80 GB
- Network Card: Integrated 10/100 Network Card
- Wireless 802.11b/g
- CD/DVD: 24x CD-RW/DVD (Please note that some classes may require a DVD burner. For these classes, we recommend an 8x DVD+/-RW)
- Software (available at reduced price or through the college):
- Windows XP Pro or Vista (Business, Enterprise or Ultimate)
- Office 2007 (Access is required for students in the Accounting, Business and Economics Department)
- updated anti-virus program (anti-virus information)

- Memory: 2 GB Memory
- Video Card: 64 MB
- Hard Drive: 80 GB
- Network Card: Built-in Ethernet
- Airport Extreme (Wireless card)
- CD/DVD: Combo Drive (DVD-ROM/CD-RW) (Please note that some classes may require a DVD burner. For these classes, we recommend a SuperDrive)

- Wireless: 802.11b/g or AirPort
- Software: Mac OSX, Windows XP Pro or Vista (Business, Enterprise or Ultimate), updated anti-virus program
