Student Employment at Juniata College:

The Human Resources and Payroll Offices would like to provide you with the following information regarding on-campus employment.

  1. If you plan on working on campus during the current academic year and you did not work on campus within the previous year, you will need to bring to campus with you: your drivers license AND your social security card or birth certificate.
  2. FINDING A JOB - The Office of Student Financial Planning provides on-campus job listings via their webpage.
  3. NEW EMPLOYEES COMPLETING PAPERWORK – At this time you will be required to present your two forms of identification listed above.  This paperwork is to be completed THE DAY PRIOR to beginning work on campus.
      • You will need to complete an online authorization and tax paperwork.  Instructions for what to complete are listed on the payroll webpage at http://www.juniata.edu/services/finance/payroll/ under New Student Employee – Student Employment Instructions. 
    • Once you have completed your tax paperwork, bring it to the Human Resources Office (1923 Moore Street) between the hours of 10am and 4pm with your identification listed in step one above.
    • Students are also required to have their paychecks directly deposited.  If you currently do not have a checking or savings account you MUST get one before obtaining a job on campus!  The account may be anywhere in the United States.  Pay statements (advices) are posted online through WebAdvisor.  Log into WebAdvisor as an employee to see your pay advices available.
  4. RETURNING EMPLOYEES –Please review the information on the payroll webpage http://www.juniata.edu/services/finance/payroll/ under Returning Student Employee – Student Employment Instructions.
  5. Hours worked policy
      • While classes are in session students are permitted to work up to 70 hours in a four week pay period or 87.5 hours in a five week pay period.  This is an average of 17.5 hours a week.  Freshman should not use the average, and should only work up to 17.5 hours a week.  Upperclassman may use the average, but should still not exceed 25 hours per week.
    • During extended breaks Juniata policy allows students to work up to 40 hours per week. Overtime is not permitted unless prior approval has been obtained from the Director of Human Resources.
