H1N1 Flu Care
For most healthy adults, rest and self care are the only treatment for influenza. Symptoms of H1N1 flu include: sudden onset fever (100.4F or higher), cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. A significant number of people who have been infected with H1N1 also have reported diarrhea and vomiting.
There are some warning signs that indicate you should seek medical attention:
- Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
- Pain or pressure in the chest or abdomen
- Sudden dizziness
- Confusion
- Severe or persistent vomiting
- Flu-like symptoms improve but then return with fever and worse cough
If you experience any of the above warning signs, contact the College Health Center at 641-3410 during our regular office hours (Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.) If we are not available, please go to the local emergency room.
