Leadership Philosophy
Juniata creates extraordinary learning opportunities to help our students prepare for a fulfilling life of service and leadership in the global community.To assist us all in understanding how we work with each other to advance Juniata's mission we developed the following leadership philosophy.
SERVICE - Our primary role is to understand and advance the mission of the College. We work to serve Juniata, its constituencies, and our colleagues with enthusiasm and our best effort.
SUPPORT - Each of us has the responsibility to positively support and empower others. We strive to let others know they are appreciated and we respect their work/life balance. We understand and advocate for the resources our teams need to achieve success.
COMMUNICATION - We are committed to open, professional, courteous, and respectful communication.
ETHICS - We are honest, ethical, and professional in all that we do.
RESPECT - We are receptive to differences between people, places, and ideas, acknowledging that we operate in a global community.
AMBASSADORS - We understand that what we do on and off campus reflects on the image of the college.
SELECTION - At Juniata we select employees with great care. We strive to select and promote skilled, talented, diverse and optimistic individuals who will help Juniata succeed. Out-source providers are held to these same standards.
RISK - Risk is a shared responsibility. For Juniata to improve, we need to take calculated risks. We are encouraged to do so and understand that both expected and unexpected outcomes are opportunities to learn.
EVALUATION - Through a fair evaluation process, we know that we are valued and learn how to improve our performance. Feedback is necessary, and must be timely and given constructively. We are given appropriate authority and responsibility, and are accountable for our actions and results.
LIFELONG LEARNING - The College supports professional development. Each of us is responsible for taking advantage of these opportunities and encouraging others to do so.
ENVIRONMENT - We strive to create a positive work environment where people are appreciated and conflicts are resolved in a respectful manner. Employees are encouraged to participate in the life of the College and the communities within which we live. We encourage new ideas and set high standards for ourselves and our teams.
