Community Service/Service Learning Coordinator
Primary Role
Plans and implements an experientially based program of community service and service learning opportunities to support student learning and development.Typical Duties & Responsibilities
- Coordinates Community Service Federal Work study Program.
- Identifies community service/service learning sites for students. Places, monitors, and evaluates student placements. Tracks service hours.
- Serves as Bonner Leader Program Director. Selects student participants, provides bi-weekly programming, monthly mentoring and oversees their 2 year commitment ensuring all Bonner Foundation and Americorps requirements are satisfied.
- Plans, coordinates, advises and leads different service initiatives, events, trips and student organizations.
- Develops and teaches service-learning course. Holds classes to process service experiences utilizing theories of service learning.
- Provides guidance and support to student organizations in areas including leadership development, event planning, and financial management.
- Works collaboratively with community organizations and student leaders to create community service projects and initiatives.
- Manages office budget.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Supervision Required/Given
Works under established guidelines and directions. Must work collaboratively cooperatively with diverse individuals and groups. Supervises a small number of student assistants and an Americorps*VISTA employee.Position Qualifications
- Knowledge and capabilities normally acquired through at least a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience and education.
- While no specific length of work experience is required, prospective employees must demonstrate experience and capabilities in successfully planning and implementing community service volunteer projects, project planning, communication and presentation skills, and PC office applications at the basic level.
