Network Manager

 

Primary Role

To manage all facets of campus network and server support services on campus. To enhance network and computer security. To contribute to the design and implementation of campus network policies, the operation and maintenance of servers and network equipment, and the delivery of network support services.

Typical Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Aide in the development of long-term strategic goals and operating plans to guide network operations and development.
  2. Aide in the development of information technology policies that guide the acquisition and use of the college's computing network.
  3. Plan and develop policies and procedures to provide a secure computing environment.
  4. Plans network upgrades and changes based on identified needs and available technology.
  5. Manages maintenance of overall functioning and serviceability of the campus network.
  6. Oversee server upgrades and maintenance.
  7. Install, test and evaluate systems, servers, and network equipment. Evaluate software and equipment for purchase. Negotiate service and license agreements.
  8. Troubleshoot all network and server related issues.
  9. Performs related duties as assigned.

Supervision Required/Given

Supervised by Director of Technology Operations under general guidelines and direction. Must work cooperatively and collaboratively with others. Supervises server management and student support staff.

Position Qualifications

  1. Knowledge and abilities normally acquired through a Bachelor's Degree in information service, or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. At least three years computer network experience sufficient to demonstrate competency and capability with: advanced Windows Server and workstation maintenance, support of multi-user LANs, proficiency with various software and hardware installation and maintenance and staff supervision.
  3. At least one year experience dealing with security in information technology.
