Backpacking in Woods

Explore Central Pennsylvania on foot with others who love the outdoors! Participants will cover approximately 2 to 7 miles a day on rocky, mountainous terrain in nearby state parks. Hiking experience is not necessary. A positive attitude and good mental and physical shape are musts for these adventurous retreats! The hiking retreat is a great opportunity if you’re interested in the Laughing Bush outdoors club on campus.

Each retreat will also have the opportunity to mingle with other retreats and participate in larger group activities and programs.

**Keep checking in for updates on the Backpacking retreat(s) throughout the spring as we move further along in the planning process.

POE: Environmental Economics

Hello! I'm a big fan of outdoor adventures. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, swimming, surfing, and skiing. I play soccer and volleyball, and I really, really love peanut butter. I also love breakfast for dinner, books with happy endings, and mariachi music. My favorite thing about Juniata is the opportunities - there are just so many! I'm excited for Inbound 2014, and I look forward to meeting everyone.

POE: Wildlife Conservation

I am a sophomore and I've luckily known what I want to do with my life professionally since I was five years old. Growing up watching nature documentaries, I found my passion in wildlife conservation and zoology early and I have never stopped finding more and more opportunities to gain more knowledge about those subjects. I love the outdoors and the never ending struggle to become one with nature. I'm very excited to be helping out with Inbound this year because I know how much of an impact it made on me last year and how it helped my transition into college. It is a huge change- coming from a city that has every store, food chain, and entertainment option you can think of within 10 minutes of my house to going to Huntingdon, PA. It's been a little bit of an adjustment but through Inbound and the friend that I made it was easier than expected. I am a member of the Juniata Women's Tennis team, playing 3rd singles last year. I am also a member of the Star Wars and Astronomy clubs on campus. I love Juniata because of the people I meet and the relationship that a student can have with a professor is one that is unrivaled in the other colleges that I applied to. The environmental department is full of great people that really want you to succeed- and I feel that is true with all the other majors as well.

Enjoy Soccer, Reading , Hiking. Work at Science in motion and joining the Juanita band. Love the Juniata atmosphere and how helpful and friendly the professors are. I also really liked the people from my inbound group, and my leaders. Favorite JC tradition is storming of the arch.

POE: Politics

I came to Juniata to experience a place with an amazing community and even better teaching staff. After my first year I can stay with total confidence that this place is special and I am very glad this is where I came. I am a member of a few clubs but I am most active in the Ultimate Frisbee Team. Next year I will be in Student Government, which was something I never thought I could do.  Juniata is what you make of it and provides a wonderful atmosphere to grow. As for my favorite tradition, Pig Roast tops the  list but storming of the arch is a close second.

POE: Spanish & Secondary Education

My name is Sarah and I'll be a sophomore this coming year. I like to spend a lot of my time outside exploring. Coffee and Sriracha run through my veins. On campus, I participate in Spanish Club, AWOL, and Eagle Ambassadors. Off campus, I spend my time listening to just about every type of music and going on road trips with my friends. My favorite Inbound memory was going on the high ropes course and surviving. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone and starting their freshman year off right!

POE: Health Communications and Psychology

In my free time, I like to dance like nobody's watching, go on adventures, shop, and soak up the sunshine. I love being outdoors and I love Beyoncé. Recently, I have found an interest in scuba diving. It terrifies me, but at the same time fascinates me. I also enjoy writing. I am a music review columnist for the Juniatian, our student-run newspaper. I love how peaceful Juniata can be. You can find your own little getaway almost everywhere. I never really appreciated "quiet time" until I came to college and Juniata is perfect for that. As I look back on my freshman year, Inbound was one of my favorite parts. I love that Juniata provides incoming students with the opportunity to make friends before they start the next chapter of their life.

Three fun facts about me: I get into the shower before I turn on the water, I knit a pretty nice infinity scarf, over the last 4 months I’ve mastered the art of laundering by hand.

POE: Wildlife Artistry (individualized)

Hellooooo new Juniata students! My name is Sara and I like to think I am pretty rad.  I love all creatures, especially my black cat, Onyx.  I also have a sweet baby-girl snake named Dahlia.  I love art, and I will draw on anything and everything-including but not limited to exams, napkins, and people.  I have a deep dislike for automatic toilets, and love for quirky fashion.  I love JC to death, and met my best friends through inbound, so take advantage of this great opportunity, and enjoy your freshman year!
