BACKPACKING

Backpacking in Woods

Explore Central Pennsylvania on foot with others who love the outdoors. Participants will cover approximately 2 to 7 miles a day on rocky, mountainous terrain. Backpacking experience is not necessary. A positive attitude and good mental and physical shape are musts for these adventurous retreats! The backpacking retreat is a great opportunity if you’re interested in the Laughing Bush outdoors club on campus.

Each retreat will also have the opportunity to mingle with other retreats and participate in larger group activities and programs.

**Keep checking in for updates on the Backpacking retreat(s) throughout the spring as we move further along in the planning process.

Why do you want to be a peer leader?
I want to be a peer leader because my Inbound experience was enjoyable and beneficial. It really helped me transition to college as a freshman, and after spending a year on campus I feel like I can offer the same kind of help to first year students.
Fun fact about yourself?
Even though my POE is Environmental Science, I’m interested in marine science and might pursue a career in that area. Also, I have an identical twin sister named Shanna, and she attends Juniata College too. Her POE is Environmental Geology.
What is your favorite memory from your first year at Juniata College?
My favorite memories from my first year at Juniata are spending time with the friends I’ve made here. Whether it’s movie nights, going to class and school events together, or just sitting under a tree or hiking. I always have a great time with them on campus and in town.
What is the best advice you can give to your Inboundees?
The best advice I can offer to my Inboundees is to keep an open mind going into college (and life in general) and to be active in campus activities. There will always be new and unexpected experiences, and if you are willing to try something new it could be really rewarding. Just use your common sense, don’t let good opportunities pass you by, and have fun!
