If you love the outdoors, cooking over a campfire, and sleeping under the stars (or in a tent) this is the retreat for you. Students can expect to kayak to a remote camping location on Raystown Lake accessible only by boat, hike trails in central PA, and learn to love the outdoors activities offered by Juniata College and it’s surroundings.  This challenging retreat will help build group skills and teamwork and requires a positive attitude. The camping retreat is a great introduction to the Laughing Bush outdoors club on campus.

Each retreat will also have the opportunity to mingle with other retreats and participate in larger group activities and programs.

**Keep checking in for updates on the Camping retreat(s) throughout the spring as we move further along in the planning process.

Meet your Peer Leaders:

Brian Wiley

Hometown: Philadelphia, PA

POE: Human Dynamics

I’m going into my senior year at JC. I try to get involved with as many things on campus as my schedule allows. I’m the VP of Colleges Against Cancer at Juniata, and am the student leader of the tutoring program at the Huntingdon Community Center. My favorite thing about the campus is that everyone here is welcoming and I have many friends with diverse backgrounds. Since this is my last year as a Peer Leader I want to have as much fun as possible!

POE: Biology

I will be a senior this year and am very excited for Inbound! I am a member of the swim team, a lifeguard, swim instructor and the treasurer of Colleges Against Cancer. My favorite Inbound memory was when we all worked as a team to complete the high ropes course (even though half of us were not fond of heights)! I love being outdoors and can't wait to put our skills to the test during the camping retreat. We are going to have so much fun!

I love love love being outdoors, whether it's fishing, hiking, exploring, kicking a soccer ball, or just relaxing in the sun. I run track at JC and it's been one of my favorite experiences here. I am very outgoing and silly, which makes me easy to get along with! And I love to make people laugh. My favorite part about Juniata would have to be the close-knit community it has making everyone feel at home.

Having been born and raised in central Pennsylvania, I've come to learn how to that this place is filled with a ton of fun things to do. The world is your playground here. Mountains, forests, streams, rivers, and lakes abound so it should come as no surprise that many of my favorite activities make good use of these features. I'm an avid outdoors person and enjoy fishing, hunting, camping, canoeing, and hiking among many other outdoor activities. Juniata College was a natural fit for me given the environment. It's close-knit community, rigorous academic environment, and proximity to rural areas have made for a very enjoyable college career. I've been able to participate in clubs such as ski club and intramural sports. They also have a bunch of awesome traditions, my favorite being mountain day. I participated in Inbound as an incoming freshmen. It was a great time, not only because my retreat went whitewater rafting, but also because I got to meet new people and have a lot of fun for a few days before classes started.
