PLEXUS

Pipe Ceremony

Juniata's Plexus retreat is designed to allow new students with concerns about multiculturalism to meet other new and returning students and offer their friendship, support, and guidance.

The event will not only give students insight into the ways in which diversity is being integrated into college life, but also will highlight the opportunities for cultural experiences and the resources available both here on campus as well as within the surrounding communities.

While the focus of Plexus is intended to give new students an opportunity to connect with those who have had similar experiences, it is open to any student with concerns related to diversity and inclusion. We will also recognize the need to address basic nuts and bolts issues like:

POE: Political Anthropology

When I’m not studying or working as an assistant in the Office of Student Activities, I can usually be found reading, taking photographs with one of my sixteen cameras, knitting, cooking, or drinking coffee. I’ve been a dancer for over ten years and I’ve participated in the African Drum and Dance club on campus. I came to Juniata for the individualized POE, but stayed because of the community I’ve found here. Hands down, my favorite tradition at Juniata is Mountain Day, with Storming of the Arch coming in at a close second. Although I’ve made many great memories here, I’m looking forward to making new ones with Plexus this August!

I come from a big family which explains why I enjoy learning about many different cultures. I like to sing, it's something I've done since I was little and because of that I joined the JC concert choir. I'm not athletic at all, but I do enjoy working out. As for clubs, I'm involved in SSA, AASA, and plan I join spanish club. I've only been at Juniata for one year and I've already made so many memories. My favorite inbound memory was when we did the ropes course on my first right after we moved in. One thing about this school that stands out is the traditions which is part of the reason I chose this school last year. My favorite tradition is Mountain Day.
