After resigning as the community center dance teacher, Bradlee A. Drawbaugh investigated her resources and moved into her own dance studio. With some assistance from family and a lot of hard work, Bradlee’s Dance Studio opened in 2002 in downtown Newville, Pennsylvania. Forty dancers attended the first night of registration for classes!

"I am blessed. I get to do what I love, pass it on to others that could love it just as much as I do, have fun, and get paid to do it!"

That was just the beginning for Bradlee. In 2006, Bradlee’s Dance Studio became B.A.D Girls Dance Company. The company moved from its original location in Newville, to a larger building, with brand new mirrors lining the longest wall, a changing room for the dancers, and a new employee, Bradlee’s sister, Brett A. Drawbaugh. “As the business grew I knew we needed to upgrade our facilities and I needed to incorporate my sister,” Bradlee said. “Brett can teach during the week and I can teach over the weekend when I come home from college.”

Bradlee's target market consists of girls ages 3-18 years old. Her competitive advantage is that her business provides a service and is not attempting to sell a product. B.A.D Girls Dance Company offers monthly tuition that is affordable to all the dancers’ families and less expensive than the local competitors. The end of each year is commemorated by a dance recital at the end of June that Bradlee describes as, “amazing to me every year”.

In the future, Bradlee plans on hiring former dancers to teach classes as she and her sister slowly work their way into strictly the administrative part of running B.A.D. Girls Dance Company. As Bradlee puts it, “I am blessed. I get to do what I love, pass it on to others that could love it just as much as I do, have fun, and get paid to do it!”
