American Painting

The museum's collection contains a number of works by important American artists of the nineteenth century.  In particular, there are works by many of the key members of the Hudson River School including Thomas Cole, Asher B. Durand, Jervis McEntee, John Casilear, Albert Bierstadt, and John Kensett.

The collection also features nautical scenes by Edward Moran, animal paintings by Arthur Fitzwilliam Tate, as well as still life paintings by Severin Roesen.
