Frostburg, Md. ? On the strength of three first-half goals the Juniata College field hockey team won its sixth-straight match, establishing a new program-record with a 3-1 victory over Frostburg State in Frostburg Tuesday afternoon. The victory moved Juniata?s record to 11-1 overall, while Frostburg State dropped to 6-8.

Juniata, currently ranked seventh in the most recent STX/NFHCA coaches poll, stopped Frostburg State?s season-long five-game winning streak.

The Eagles were forced to come from behind in the record-setting contest, as the home team struck for the first goal in the match. Tawni Buck put Frostburg in front 1-0 with 29:20 remaining in the first half with an unassisted goal.

The Eagles responded with a goal three minutes later. Elise Zimmerman (Cumberland Valley/Boiling Springs) converted a pass from Billie Rickenbaugh (East Juniata/McAlisterville) off a penalty corner to tie the match at one.

The Eagles maintained the first-half pressure, and moved in front with 12 minutes left in the first half. Sierra Dickman (Foxcroft School/Marshall, Va.) beat Frostburg keeper Kristen Cousin to put the Eagles in front. Rickenbaugh added her second assist of the match on the goal.

Zimmerman then posted her second goal of the match with 8:31 left in the first half to provide Juniata with a two-goal lead.

Juniata keeper Melonie Sappe? (Dallas/Shavertown) finished the match with two saves, both of which came in the second half as the Bobcats tried to cut into the Eagle lead.

The Eagles fired off nine shots in both the first and second half, forcing Cousin into six saves in the match.

Juniata will look to extend its winning streak on Saturday when the Eagles host Bridgewater (Va.) for a non-conference contest in Huntingdon.
