The Eagles, who were ranked sixth in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III poll, were also the top-rated team in the Mid-Atlantic Region in this week's NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic regional rankings. The Juniata high-netters will open play in the tournament at 4 p.m. on the 20th in a match with Carnegie Mellon University.

The nine-team tournament will open at 4 p.m. on the 20th. Top teams in the Guisler invitational, include Nazareth (ranked first in the NCAA Division III Great Lakes region and 15th in the latest national poll), Muskingum (seven in the Division III Great Lakes region) and Division II Lock Haven, California (Pa.) and Shippensburg. Also making the trip to the invitational are New York University and Mount Union.

Each team participating in the two-day outing this weekend will play four matches (two on Friday and two on Saturday). The winner of Pool D will be crowned champion of the Guisler Invitational following the completion on Saturday. There will be three pools at the start of action on Friday and following the results, teams will be re-pooled for action on Saturday. Final placement for re-pooling and tournament results will be decided by the following method: 1. Overall match record; 2. Overall game record; 3 Overall points scored ratio.

Admission is free for both days of play.

The tournament is held in honor of William M. "Wid" Guisler. A lifelong resident of Huntingdon and a graduate of Huntingdon Area High School, Mr. Guisler was active in local civic affairs and retired as sales manager and national accounts executive for Mead Corporation's Blair Division. He was a 1930 graduate of Juniata College and he was a staunch supporter of Juniata athletics, especially the women's volleyball team.
