Women Pick Up Three Wins At Track Meet

CARLISLE, Pa. - The Juniata College men\'s and women\'s indoor track teams opened their seasons in fine fashion Saturday afternoon as each team earned a top-five finish in the Dickinson College Holiday Meet in Carlisle. The Juniata men placed fourth among eight teams with 50.50 points, while the Juniata women\'s squad was fifth out of eight teams by earning 50 points. On the women\'s side Juniata had a pair of athletes earn first-place finishes. Kelsey Buffenmyer (Donegal/Mount Joy) matched Anderson with two first-place efforts as she bested the field in both the high jump and the long jump. Melissa Konowal (Archbishop Carroll/Philadelphia) added a fifth-place effort in the high jump. Also earning a victory on the day for Juniata was Caitlin Hinson (Danville/Danville) who earned a first-place finish in the 55-meter dash while Rachel Naar (/Southboroug, Mass.) was sixth in the event. A pair of fifth-place finishes rounded out the scoring for the Eagles as Katie Tavenner (Spring-Ford/Oaks) was fifth in the shot put and Anna Bloom (/Eldersburg, Md.) was fifth in the triple jump. Randy Anderson (DuBois/DuBois) was a standout on the men\'s side as he earned a pair of victories and also claimed an NCAA provisional qualifying time. The senior was first in the 55-meter dash with a personal-best time of 6.44 which is an NCAA provisional effort. Dusty Sier (Smithsburg/Smithsburg, Md.) was second in the race and was just a fraction off also claiming a provisional time. Anderson then added a first-place effort in the long jump to cap his day. Patrick Filamor (International School/Manila, Philippines) was fourth in the long jump on the day. Juniata\'s next highest finish on the men\'s side came from freshman Ryan Baird (/North Huntingdon) who placed third in the pole vault. Fellow freshman TJ Breya (/McClure) capped Juniata\'s scoring as he placed fourth in the 300 and sixth in the 55-meter hurdles. Juniata will return to Dickinson next Saturday to compete in the DuCharme Invitational. ###
