Claudia McDowell scored 13 points and earned seven steals as Juniata defeated Huntingdon.

TIFFIN, Ohio - The Juniata College women\'s basketball team used a pressure defense that forced 27 turnovers to earn a 66-49 victory over Huntingdon College in the consolation game of the Heidelberg Holiday Alumni Classic Saturday afternoon. The Eagles improved to 8-2 on the season while Huntingdon fell to 2-7. After getting off to a cold shooting start, Juniata found itself trailing by three points with 11:20 left in a first half after a hoop from Betsy Jones. The Eagles then responded with a 17-1 run, sparked by a pair of triples by Ali Meckey (Bishop Carroll/Ebensburg). Juniata\'s defense forced six turnovers during that stretch, and forced the Lady Hawks into 13 turnovers as they took a 36-25 lead into halftime. Huntingdon was never able to bring the lead under double figures in the second half, with the Eagles taking 22-point advantage after a three from Jess Winemiller (Dallastown/York) and a hoop from Courtney Callas (Freeport/Sarver) midway through the second half. The Eagles scored 31 points off the 27 turnovers they forced on the game, to help keep Huntingdon at bay. Claudia McDowell (Juniata Valley/Alexandria) scored 13 points and also produced seven of Juniata\'s 18 steals. Meckey was also in double figures with 11 points for the Eagles. Winemiller was tops on the team with eight rebounds, and was joined on the All-Tournament Team by Kelly Ashcraft (State College/State College).
