Jonathan Skoner earned victories in singles and doubles, including a tough three-set singles win as Juniata defeated Albright.

READING, Pa. - Last season, the Juniata College men\'s tennis team ended with a heartbreaking 4-3 loss to Albright College in the semifinals of the Commonwealth Conference postseason. On Tuesday Juniata got some revenge as the Eagles claimed an 8-1 victory in the 2007 season opener over Albright College. Juniata is now 1-0 overall and 1-0 in Commonwealth play. The Eagles swept the six singles matches on the day, and claimed two of three victories in doubles action to earn the win. All but one of the Juniata singles wins came in straight sets. The lone exception came at first singles where Jonathan Skoner (Central Catholic/Pittsburgh) fought to a 6-3, 4-6, 12-10 victory. The remainder of the wins were all in straight sets with Juniata not dropping more than two games in any of the matches. Jarrad Silver (Walt Whitman/Bethesda, Md.) was the winner at second singles by a score of 6-0, 6-2. Brandon Long (Lebanon/Lebanon) was a 6-0, 6-1 winner at third singles. Aaron Rhodes (Huntingdon/Huntingdon) swept his way to a 6-0, 6-0 victory at fourth singles. Juniata then wrapped up the win with Bryan Sykes (Gateway Regional/Woodburry Heights, N.J.) winning 6-0, 6-1 at fifth singles and Derek Dye (Beall/Frostburg, Md.) winning 6-1, 6-0 at sixth singles. The Eagles opened up the match by taking two of the three doubles contests. Skoner and Jau Feixas (University of Barcelona/Barcelona, Spain) earned an 8-2 win at second doubles. Rhodes and Dye also won by an 8-2 score at third doubles. Juniata\'s only loss was at first doubles with Long and Silver falling by an 8-2 score. The Eagles will be back in action on Wednesday when they host Lebanon Valley in another Commonwealth Conference match. ###
