Track Men Fare Well At Moravian

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Facing some of the top teams in the conference as well as several high level Division I teams the Juniata College track and field teams enjoyed a strong day at the non-scored Moravian Greyhound Invitational Saturday afternoon in Bethlehem. The top effort on the day came from Juniata\'s Kyle Mazur (Morris Catholic/Ogdensburg, N.J.) who placed second in the javelin and improved on his NCAA provisional qualifying mark. He posted a career-best toss of 58.32 meters which raises his standing for NCAA qualifying. Ryan Johnson (Crestwood/Mountaintop) was also in the top-eight in the javelin as he placed eighth. Juniata\'s next-highest finish came on the track as T.J. Breya (East Juniata/McClure) ran to a fourth-place finish in the 400 hurdles by recording a time of 56.14. Also running well was Tripp Rudolph (Upper St. Clair/Pittsburgh) who was seventh with a time of 4:08.28 in the 1,500 and Randy Anderson (DuBois/DuBois) who placed seventh in the 100 by crossing the line in 11.13. Matthew Bailey (Hempfield/East Petersburg) was also seventh by running a time of 10:24.67 in the 3,000 steeplechase. Rounding out the top-eight efforts was Matthew Booth (Allentown Central Catholic/Allentown) who jumped to an eighth-place finish in the triple jump with a best effort of 13.35 meters. On the women\'s side the Eagles did well in the field events. Kelsey Buffenmyer (Donegal/Mount Joy) placed sixth in the high jump, and also improved on her NCAA provisional qualifying mark. She cleared 1.66 meters to improve on her previous best of 1.65 meters. Also placing sixth was Maggie Wolenter (Audubon/Audubon, N.J.) who tossed the discus 32.74 meters. Regina Diehl (Camp Hill/Camp Hill) posted a best effort of 34.96 in the javelin to also place sixth. On the track, Laura Rupprecht (Brunswick/Jefferson, Md.) turned in the women\'s best finish of the day as she crossed the line in fourth place in the 1,500 with a time of 4:54.91. Also posting a top-eight finish on the day was Kristen Gochnauer (Warwick/Lititz) who placed sixth in the 3,000 steeplechase by running a time of 12:54.91. Juniata will compete at its final meet before the MAC Championships next week when the Eagles will be in action at Shippensburg. ###
