Juniata FB places four on All-Centennial squads

HUNTINGDON, Pa. - The Juniata College football team had four players named to the All-Centennial Conference football teams, when the squads were released Monday by the league. Senior Lance Tippett (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) was the lone Juniata selection on the First Team, as he was named First Team Offense at the wide receiver position. Tippett finished the 2007 season with 54 receptions for 1,012 yards, including 10 touchdown receptions. Averaging 101.2 yards per game receiving, he was the only Centennial Conference receiver to average over 100 yards per game. He heading into the final weekend of the season ranked 27th among Division III leaders in receiving yards per game. Senior punter Tyler Templeton (Ebensburg, Pa./Central Cambria) was a Second Team Defense selection to the All-Centennial squads. Templeton averaged 38.0 yards per punt, second-best average in the conference, with 2,202 yards on 58 punts, and ranked 63rd among Division III leaders in punting. Junior linebacker Josh Roy (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) and sophomore defensive back Andy Miller (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) were both Honorable Mention selections to the All-Centennial Defensive team. Roy led the Eagles in total tackles with 105, including 50 solo stops, with four tackles-for-loss, a sack, one interception return and three pass break-ups. He was second in the league in total tackles, trailing only Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Year Eric Dube from Dickinson College. Miller finished the season with 31 total tackles, 18 of which were solo, with a team-high six pass break-ups. He also had one interception and one sack. As a special teams player, Miller was fourth in kick return average (22.0 yards per return) and fifth in punt return average (10.9 yards per return). Juniata finished its inaugural season in the Centennial Conference with a 1-9 overall record, 0-8 in league play. -30-
