HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- The Juniata women's basketball team (8-5, 1-1 Landmark) grabbed a 66-57 victory over Moravian College (8-5, 1-1 Landmark) in Landmark Conference action Friday night in Huntingdon, Pa.

With Juniata holding a two point lead, 51-49, with 4:20 remaining in the game, Claudia McDowell (Alexandria, Pa. / Juniata Valley) stretched the Eagle lead back to five points with her traditional three point play.

Juniata held the lead for most of the first half, only allowing the Greyhounds to score 19 points to the Eagles' 31. Moravian came back to tie the game, 45-45, with 8:14 remaining in the second half following a free throw by Jessica Foran (Annandale, N.J. / Hanover Park). Moravian held the Eagles to a two-possession lead until a three-pointer by Jill Walsh (Johnstown, Pa. / Ferndale) with 2:37 remaining in the game, expanding the Juniata lead to 57-51.

Moravian was forced to start fouling in order to catch Juniata, but McDowell went 7-for-8 at the line over the last minute of the game to clinch the win for the Eagles. Defensively, the Eagles secured the win by allowing Moravian to complete only one basket in the last three minutes of the game.

The Eagle offense was led by Kelly Ashcraft (Bellefonte, Pa. / State College) with 18 points and five rebounds. McDowell finished with 16 points and five rebounds, while making 10-of-11 attempts at the line. Jen Hnatuck (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Trinity) and Kelly Rotan (Atco, N.J. / Hammonton) also shot in the double figures with 12 point and 10 points, respectively.
