Career Services Director to Talk on Fulbright Fellowship

HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Darwin Kysor, director of career services at Juniata College, will give a talk, "Sauerkraut, Bratwurst and the German Education System: My Fulbright Experience," at 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 13, in Neff Lecture Hall in the von Liebig Center for Science on the Juniata campus.

The lecture is free and open to the public. The lecture is part of the Bookend Seminar Lecture Series, which features afternoon lectures each month by Juniata faculty.

Kysor was named a Fulbright Fellow in fall 2007 and spent several weeks in Germany visiting educational sites in Berlin, Kiel, Hanover and Frankfurt. He will talk about the Fulbright Foundation application process for the German-American Administrator Program, and discuss how the German Education system differs from the higher education system in the United States.

He also will talk about his experience eating various German-delicacies, such as bratwurst, sauerkraut and other foods.

Kysor attended a seminar in October for U.S. Administrators in International Education while in Germany.

He is one of approximately 800 faculty or professional administrators who will travel abroad through the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program.

Kysor earned a bachelor's degree in 1984 and a master's degree in 1987, both from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. He went on to earn a doctoral degree in 1994 from Oregon State University in Corvallis, Ore.

Kysor has been Juniata's director of career services since 1996. He started his career in 1985 and worked as a residence hall director through 1990 at Edinboro, Oregon State and the University of Wisconsin-Lacrosse. He was cooperative education coordinator and career counselor at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Ga. from 1990 to 1993. He was coordinator of job placement and cooperative education at Harford Community College in Bel-Air, Md. from 1993 to 1996.
