Juniata athletics checks in at #61 in NACDA Directors' Cup standings

HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Juniata College is ranked 61st in the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) Division III Directors' Cup standings at the conclusion of the winter sport seasons, according to updated standings released by NACDA on Thursday.

The Eagles picked up 25 points for women's basketball's participation in the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship, giving Juniata 178.00 points for the year to date. Institutions accumulate points in the Directors' Cup standings based on their participation and advancement in NCAA tournament events.

Juniata has the highest ranking in the Directors' Cup standings among Landmark Conference institutions that have earned points. Trailing Juniata College are Moravian College, ranked 74th with 156.00 points; the United States Merchant Marine Academy, ranked 135th with 84.00 total points; and the University of Scranton, ranked 184th with 50.00 points. A total of 271 institutions that have participated in NCAA Division III championships are included in the rankings, out of approximately 420 institutions in Division III.

Washington University of St. Louis leads the Directors' Cup standing with 693.50 points, after finishing in the top 10 at three of the NCAA's winter championships. The Bears are followed by Amherst College (Mass.) with 647.00, Williams College (Mass.) with 617.25, The College of New Jersey with 516.00, and Middlebury College (Vt.) with 508.50.

Juniata was ranked 110th in last year's final NACDA Directors' Cup standings with 171.00 points, its highest finish since 2002.
