Juniata men's tennis evens Landmark record with win over USMMA

KINGS POINT, N.Y. -- The Juniata College men's tennis team won all but one singles and one doubles match on its way to a 7-2 win over the United States Merchant Marine Academy, in a Landmark Conference matchup on Saturday afternoon in Kings Point, N.Y. The win allowed Juniata to even its Landmark Conference record at 3-3, and improve its overall mark to 6-9. The Eagles were led by four players who went 2-0 for the match. Jarrad Silver (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) posted a 6-4, 6-0 win at #1 singles over Merchant Marine's Geoffrey Lerner, then teamed up with Arnab Chakrabarti (Alpharetta, Ga./Alpharetta) to win first doubles, 8-1. Chakrabarti notched a 6-1, 6-2 win at #4 singles. Jonathan Skoner (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) and Aaron Rhodes (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon) paired up to notch an 8-2 win over USMMA's Billy Coulter and Patricia Greene. In singles competition, Skoner had a 6-0, 6-1 win at #2 singles over Neal Duncan, while Rhodes bested Jeffrey Fasoli at #5 singles, 6-3, 6-2. Juniata returns to action on Tuesday, April 15, when it hosts Elizabethtown College at 3:30 p.m. on the Raffensperger Tennis Courts.
