Buda and Parker named Juniata Athletes of the Week

(Posted November 6, 2008)

HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Field hockey forward Kara Buda (Franklin, N.J./Wallkill Valley) and men's cross country runner Ceth Parker (Sabillasville, Md./Catoctin) have been named Juniata College's Athletes of the Week, for the week ending November 2, 2008.

Buda was named the Landmark Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week for her three-point performance in Juniata's season-ending win over Goucher College. She assisted on what proved to be the game-winning goal and added a goal of her own later in the contest, leading the Eagles to a 6-0 win over the Gophers.

The victory allowed Juniata (8-12) to clinch a berth in the Landmark Conference Field Hockey Tournament, where they defeated Susquehanna University, 2-1, in the semifinals. The Eagles will face Catholic University on Saturday, Nov. 8, in Washington, D.C., for the Landmark title.

Parker earned Landmark Conference Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Year honors, following his performance at Saturday's Landmark Cross Country Championships. Parker finished fifth overall with a time of 27:35.5, earning First team All-Landmark Conference honors.
