Rusted Root PLay Concert at Juniata College

HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- The band Rusted Root, known for such hits as "Send Me On My Way," "Virtual Reality" and "Martyr" will perform at Juniata College at 8 p.m. April 12 in Memorial Gym in the Kennedy Sports and Recreation Center on the Juniata campus.

Tickets are $12 for Juniata students with a college I.D. and $17 for non-Juniata students. Tickets can be purchased with cash, checks or credit cards from 8 a.m. to midnight Monday through Saturday and from noon to midnight on Sunday at the Information Desk at Ellis College Center on the Juniata campus. The event is sponsored by the Juniata College Activities Board and WKVR-92 FM. There will be no opening act.

Rusted Root, who cultivate a world-beat pop sound, were formed in Pittsburgh and first came to national attention with the release of their debut LP "When I Woke" in 1994. The album contains their first single, "Send Me On My Way" as well as "Martyr," "Ecstasy" and "Drum Trip." Their latest LP, "Welcome To My Party," will be released April 9.

Rusted Root members are: vocalist Mike Glabicki, guitarist Liz Berlin, drummer Jim Donovan, bassist Patrick Norman, keyboardist John McDowell and instrumentalist John Buynak.

Other Rusted Root albums include "Remember" (1996), produced by ex-Talking Head Jerry Harrison, and "Rusted Root" (1998), which featured a cover of the Rolling Stones chestnut "You Can't Always Get What You Want." Rusted Root songs have been used extensively in movie soundtracks, including such films as "Twister," "Race The Sun," "Matilda," "Home For the Holidays" and "Babe: A Pig in the City."

The band is currently starting its tour in support of its new album and has toured throughout the United States and Canada. They have played as featured artists at Woodstock 99, the Furthur Festival and the H.O.R.D.E. event.
