SWARTHMORE, Pa. -- A handful of Juniata College track and field athletes continued to push to for qualifying marks for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Monday's Swarthmore College Last Chance meet, held at Swarthmore's Walter T. Skallerup, Jr. Track.

Senior TJ Breya (McClure, Pa./East Juniata) finished third in the men's 400m dash with a time of 53.65 seconds, trailing only a pair of runners from Villanova University. The mark was a new personal best for Breya, and improved upon his NCAA provisional qualifying mark.

Senior Matt Bailey (East Petersburg, Pa./Hempfield) was third in the 10,000m run with a time of 31:59.30. That time set a new Juniata record, and is the first sub-32 minute time by a Juniata male in the 10,000m.

In the javelin competition, senior Ryan Johnson (Mountain Top, Pa./Crestwood) was fifth with a throw of 54.36m (178-04), one spot ahead of Dustin Drake (Mount Union, Pa./Mount Union) in sixth with a mark of 54.04m (177-03).

Sophomore Kristyn Ginter (Tyrone, Pa./Bellwood-Antis) was sixth in the women's javelin competition, with her throw of 37.12m (121-09).

Freshman Angela Shaffer (Prospect, Pa./Slippery Rock) was sixth in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.71 seconds. Shaffer also competed in the high jump, where she finished second after clearing the bar at a height of 1.60m (5-3.00).
