Udinski, Stubbs, and Cottle named to Centennial football weekly honor roll

HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Three Juniata College football student-athletes were recognized on this week's Centennial Conference weekly honor roll, for their efforts in Juniata's 58-27 loss to Gettysburg College.
Freshman quarterback Ward Udinski (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West), freshman cornerback Nicholas Stubbs (Hagerstown, Md./South Hagerstown), and senior cornerback Tyler Cottle (Everett, Pa./Northern Bedford) were all tapped for the Centennial honor roll, which recognized standout performances in that weekend's games.
Udinski completed 20-of-46 pass attempts for 131 yards and two touchdowns, as Juniata had its best offensive showing in recent years. The Eagles' 27 points was the most since the final game of the 2008 season, while Juniata's 239 yards of offense was most since the 2010 clash with Gettysburg.
Stubbs finished with six total tackles, five of which were unassisted, and recorded his first career interception with a 17-yard interception and return in the third quarter. That play led directly to Juniata's second touchdown of the game, a four-yard Udinski to Julian Valdiserri (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) TD pass on the very next play.
Cottle scored Juniata's third touchdown of the game when he recovered a blocked punt in the endzone to cut the Gettysburg lead to 35-19. The touchdown on a blocked punt was the first for Juniata since the 2009 Dickinson game, when former Juniata corner Andy Miller accomplished the feat late in the fourth quarter.
Juniata (0-3, 0-2 Centennial) heads to Lancaster, Pa., this Saturday, Sept. 24, as the Eagles face Franklin & Marshall College in a Centennial Conference matchup.
