Amrod's late goal lifts Juniata field hockey past Elizabethtown, 2-1

(Posted October 20, 2011)

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- Juniata College senior Kim Amrod (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) scored with under eight minutes remaining in regulation, lifting Juniata field hockey to a 2-1 win over Elizabethtown College, Thursday afternoon at Wolf Field.

Amrod buried the unassisted game-winner for Juniata from right in front of the E-town cage with 7:33 showing on the game clock.

Juniata's game-winning tally came barely eight minutes after Elizabethtown knotted the game at 1-1, with a goal by Caitlin Grimes. Grimes batted a shot by Taylor Alwine into the left corner of the Juniata goal with 15:46 remaining in the game.

Eagle senior Kara Buda (Franklin, N.J./Wallkill Valley) potted the game's first goal with 17:17 left in the first half, deflecting a blast by Emma Dahmus (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin).

Juniata outshot E-town 10-2 over the 70 minutes of play, with Juniata goalie Janelle Howard (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) recording one save. The penalty corner opportunities were more balanced, with Juniata taking nine to Elizabethtown's seven.

In the E-town cage, goalie Lindy Hamp charted four saves and allowed both Juniata goals.

Juniata returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 22, when it travels to Madison, N.J., to face Drew University. Game time is slated for 1:00 p.m.
