Contemporary Pianist to Play Concert at Juniata College

HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Robin Spielberg, a classically trained contemporary pianist known for her work in music therapy, will perform a concert as part of the Juniata College Artist Series at 8:15 p.m., Saturday, March 15 in Rosenberger Auditoium in Oller Hall on the Juniata campus.
For tickets and information about the Juniata College Artist Series, please call (814) 641-3605. General admission tickets for single performances are $15. Single-show tickets for seniors over age 65 and children age 18 and under are $8. Juniata College students are admitted free with a student ID.
In addition to her concert, Spielberg also will teach an educational outreach program for school-age children at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 14 in Oller Hall. She also will conduct a music therapy workshop with a certified music therapist at 2 p.m., Friday, March 14 in Oller Hall. Both programs are free and open to the public.
Spielberg was named Celebrity Spokesperson for Music Therapy by the American Music Therapy Association. Music therapy is an established healthcare profession that uses music and music applications to influence emotional, physical, cognitive and social responses.
Spielberg is a member of the Steinway Artists Roster and has recorded 10 albums. Her albums of piano solos include "Heal of the Hand," "Songs of the Spirit" and "Dreaming of Summer." Other recordings include "Unchained Melodies," "With a Song in My Heart," "Spirit of the Holidays," "In the Heart of Winter" and "Beautiful Dreamer," a collection of lullabies.
Spielberg became interested in music and healing when she saw the positive effects of music on her baby daughter, who was born prematurely and had to four months in a neo-natal intensive care unit.
She also composes music for off-Broadway theater and for film and television productions.
